Abdelrahman Ikram about Hooligan: ‘He’s got it all’

19-12-2017

We can call the performances of our auction horses with their new owners very impressive. Last summer we enjoyed the amazing rounds of Hooligan (Hooch DK x Manhattan), sold in January 2017 and now ridden by Abdelrahman Ikram from Egypt, at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken. They finished 17th in the final for 5-year-olds.

Abdelrahman Ikram is incredible proud of the chestnut and told us how he found Hooligan. “We went to the stables of Teus van den Brink to try some of the horses that were taking part of the auction. As we know Teus knows how to spot the good ones.”

“I went with my sponsor Mr.Mohamed Mansour (owner of Infinity Horses) and Karim Hamdy, our manager and trainer. After that, Karim went to the auction and had a feeling on Hooligan on the same day in the morning and called me. He told me this is the one we will buy. As I was not there I watched the auction online.”

“The horse later came to our stable. We gave him a little break in the winter, then started to build him up and he really was impressive. Every time again. We went to a show and he jumped clear.”

“We planned to take him to the World Championships in Lanaken and he jumped superb there. A small mistake in the final kept us out of the jump off.”

“After Lanaken Hooligan got a long deserved break. It’s a horse that we really believe in. He's got it all: careful, scopy and he has the right mind. It's such a great opportunity for me to produce a horse of this calibre!”

“Our plan at the moment is to keep producing him till he jumps bigger classes! We have very high hopes for him in the future.
