Almost 6.8 mille turnover at Sale of the Rising Stars

20-10-2018

The Sale of the Rising Stars came back to where it started nine years ago, in Zwolle, and was warmly welcomed by all people present on the Friday-night. In the pleasant hall of Jumping Zwolle ten young and talented showjumping horses from Teus van den Brink were knocked down for the total sum of 668,000 euro, the super hot favourite Impala (by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) going for a spectacular 160,000 euro.

From the VIP area hand shot up for the horses, but this international group encountered bitter competition from bids made by telephone from abroad. Dennis van den Brink, son of Teus, sold as many as four horses by telephone to a British buyer. An extremely satisfied client, who early this years had also bought three horses at Sale of the Rising Stars and who will now be receiving the new horses next week.

Teus van den Brink is extremely pleased. As co-organiser of the Jumping Zwolle event which applies high standards and is progressing excellently, but also as the auction’s organiser. “I already had a very good feeling about the whole thing beforehand. There was a relaxed atmosphere and everything ran smoothly. If these horses would not be sold here Zwolle, where else? They are good jumpers and there are fine people here. It was just a matter of waiting.

The fact that the 5-yr-old Impala (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Kojak) from the line of the KWPN stallion El Salvador and Grand Prix showjumping horse Glock’s Zaranza went for 160,000 euro and the very tall Jywan (Etoulon VDL x Karandasj) for 110,000 euro came as no suprise for Teus van den Brink. “Really great showjumping horses, they are. When I bought Impala a year ago, I originally wanted to keep her for Dennis. But this auction came rather early, because we moved from Indoor Drachten in January to Zwolle in October the same year. I had to add her to the collection. You have to offer the horses that at that moment are the best ones in your stables, which is only fair. It is not a clearance sale, you have to offer good quality because that is what is appreciated by the buyers.”

The British buyer not only purchased Impala en Jywan, but also Inwood (Kannan x Kashmir Van Schuttershof) and Jurette H (Arezzo VDL x Corland). Canadian Grand Prix rider Tiffany Foster bought Identia (Zavall VDL x Lux) by telephone; she is being trained for the hunter sport and will start next January in the renowned Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. “Tiffany had visited me at home to try her out and on that occasion also bought another hunter from me”, says Teus van den Brink.

The Belgian showjumping rider Boy-Adrian Van Gelderen, who had earlier bought Gringo R and Olga G at this auction and is now successful with them, this time claimed Jemen (Harley VDL x Andiamo). Emmelie Melssen, girl-friend of Dennis van den Brink, will have a super sport horse in Jolita (Arezzo VDL x Quasimodo Z).
